Fourteen government staff and one research officer had travel to Japan in September 2022 to pursue their post graduate studies at seven Japanese universities.

JICA Papua New Guinea office conducted a pre-departure briefing to prepare the participants for their travel.

JICA Chief Representative Mr. KOINUMA Masato congratulated and encouraged all 15 scholars to strive high academically and be good ambassadors in Japan.

JICA is keen to enhance PNG’s human resource who will contribute to the sustainable development of the country .JICA also continues to encourage eligible female applicants to apply for the available scholarship programs that are provided every year. These programs include the SDGs Global Leader, KIZUNA and Agriculture and Food Securities Network (AGRI-NET) program.

Amongst the 15 Papua New Guineans, DFA nominated four (4) Foreign Service Officers to pursue their master’s degree program in Japan.
Mr. Paul Panao, Mr. Justin Ale, Ms. Suzi maki and Mr. Issac Givolo all left for studies in August 2022.

Mr. Issac Givolo completed his studies and graduated with flying colors, whist the other three Foreign Service Officers will complete their studies and graduate soon.
